Melissa Barr
LMT, Certified Muscle Release Therapy, MRTh® Practitioner, Certified Pilates Instructor
Melissa joined the CVWC family in January 2007 after graduating from the Ohio College of Massotherapy in 2006 and earning her license from the Ohio State Medical Board in early January 2007.
As a Pilates Instructor, Melissa thrives on teaching clients how to move properly and helping them live a more pain free lifestyle. As a MRTh®Practitioner she said, “MRTh® is an amazing, cutting edge therapy that yields results. I am so excited to be a part of the Chagrin Valley Wellness Center team and find it very rewarding to be a facilitator in the healing process of our clients.”
Melissa’s love of learning, the environment, music and photography offer clients a knowledgeable and compassionate healer.
Terry Carine
Karuna Reiki® Master/Teacher, Certfied Reflexologist
After being in the corporate world for over 35 years, Terry chose the healing techniques of Reflexology and Reiki as a career choice.
Certified in 1999 by the International Institute of Reflexology in the Original Ingham Method. Reflexology is a proven science that activates the healing powers of the body by addressing congestion, inflammation and tension in the body.
Also certified in 1999 as a Karuna Reiki® Master/Teacher by the International Center for Reiki Training. “I love the effects Reiki has on my clients and especially enjoy teaching all levels of Reiki® so my students can use it on a daily basis.”
She was Certified in 2002 by Eric Pearl in Reconnective Healing Levels I & II. A healing method that works on the aura of the body.
I am happy to be a part of such a “family” team at Chagrin Valley Wellness.
Hayley Kotton
LMT, Certified Muscle Release Therapy, MRTh® Practitioner, Certified Pilates Instructor
Hayley joined the CVWC family in May 2006 after graduating from Cuyahoga Community College’s massage program in 2005. She earned her license from the Ohio State Medical Board in January 2006.
As an Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Pilates Instructor, her regular client base continues to grow in numbers and succeed individually, given their movement reeducation, posture balancing and strong core development. “I am honored to be the facilitator of this powerful experience.” Hayley specializes in MRTh®, customizing each treatment to the needs of her clients. She treats clients with chronic back and neck pain, carpal tunnel syndrome and rotator cuff tension, among others. As an experienced athlete, artist and musician, Hayley offers clients a unique, observant and compassionate perspective.
Sean Lyons
Marketing & Education Director, Certified Pilates Instructor
Sean joined the CVWC family in November 2007. His customer care background paired with his impressive athletic experience has made him a very special addition here. He earned his Functional Movement Pilates℠ certification in August 2008.
Sean, a 1995 Mount Union College graduate, is accustomed to success on the Championship Football field as well as in his professional endeavors as Marketing & Education Director and Certified Pilates Instructor.
Sean says, "I am excited to play a more active role in our clients' experience and I feel truly blessed to have this opportunity. I will continue to learn and grow with the cutting edge evolution of our services."
Tanya Mucci
Certified Pilates Instructor
Tanya joined the CVWC family in the winter of 2007 after earning her Functional Movement Pilates℠ Certification. She is currently studying Massage Therapy with the Cuyahoga Community College. Tanya graduated in 2000 with a BFA in dance performance and choreography from Kent State University. She was a chosen choreographer for Regional Dance America in 2004, and has performed and trained nationally with the World Jazz Dance Congress in Mexico and Costa Rico.
Tanya’s focus is to assist clients in their development of the mind and body connection to achieve a stronger more connected physical self. “I am excited and honored to be part of the incredible CVWC team.”
Ashleigh Pennington
Program Director, Certified Pilates Instructor
Ashleigh joined the CVWC family in January 2004 while earning her B.A. in Human Resources Development from Notre Dame College, graduating Magna Cum Laude in May 2005. She earned her Functional Movement Pilates℠ Instructor Certification in August 2008.
Ashleigh's genuine commitment to the betterment of CVWC clients is easily felt & seen in her day to day activities. Her education and disposition will serve her students well.
Ashleigh says, "Teaching Pilates at CVWC is a chance to positively impact the lives of our clients on a level different from what I am used to. Re-educating your body with Pilates at CVWC has the potential to change the way you move for the rest of your life."
Mandi Rickelman
Certified Pilates Instructor
Mandi joined the CVWC family in 2005 after earning her Functional Movement Pilates℠ Certification. She was introduced to Pilates by Dennis Gibbons in 2003 while training for a half marathon. Since then, Mandi has come to believe that taking time to care for mental and physical health is an essential part of daily living. “The human body is a vessel which carries us; pilates affords us the tools to honor and respect it.”
Mandi holds a masters of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has put her education to use in various ways and places, including an orphanage in the Dominican Republic, and in Macae, Brazil, where she taught English to elementary students and core classes to expats. In addition to her work at CVWC, Mandi teaches preschool aged children with autism at The Monarch School.
Lydia Williams
Certified Pilates Instructor
Lydia joined the CVWC family in the fall of 2007 and her life-long passion for physical fitness is evident. Lydia’s knowledge and experience combined with her ability to personally connect with clients of all fitness levels make her a welcomed addition to the staff. Her clients enjoy a mix of pilates, mat work and yoga, all working together to help their body move efficiently and pain free. Lydia’s emphasis on attaining core muscle balance and overall strength, by developing long, lean muscles, is beneficial for anyone’s health and wellness program.
Charlotte Wilson
LMT, Certified Muscle Release Therapy, MRTh® Practitioner, Certified Pilates Instructor
Charlotte joined the CVWC family in October 2008 after graduating from Harmony Path School of Massage Therapy in early 2008, and earning her license from the Ohio State Medical Board in July 2008.
Charlotte brings 8 years of Pilates instruction with her, having studied with various teachers including Pilates Elder Mary Bowen. A former dancer with the Cleveland Ballet, Charlotte was happy to find CVWC's holistic approach to Pilates, allowing clients to address their whole bodies. "I believe that the functional movement emphasis here is a welocome approach to enhancing the mind-body connection and 'not just doing' exercises."

Jarvis Wrazen
Certified Pilates Instructor
Jarvis joins the CVWC family with over 9 years of Pilates Instruction under his belt, after graduating with a B.S.S. in Exercise Physiology from Ohio University in 1998. In 2004, Jarvis studied in the U.K. with Alan Herdman, “who helped shift my perspective on Pilates.” He goes on to say, “I believe that Pilates is something I'll be doing into my 90's, and it'll be something that will allow me to stay active well into my 90's.”
Staying active is a way of life for Jarvis. He has been working out for nearly 20 years and still loves playing volleyball, tennis and traveling.
“I am excited about joining the CVWC team and look forward to learning & growing with this amazing staff!”
All Pilates classes and privates sessions are led and monitored by our certified Pilates Instructors. In addition to their extensive knowledge and comprehension of the function of the human body, our Certified Pilates Instructors are required to complete a minimum of:
45 hours of in class study

30 hours of Pilates Class observation
+
30 hours of assisting Pilates Classes
+
participation in minimum of 3 private pilates sessions

108 hours of Pilates Studio Training
