Path to Wellness
September2008

Dear Friend,

Hopefully you enjoyed this summer because ready or not here comes the fall!  And with autumn comes arguably the most beautiful time of year, and for once I am ready.

Seems like the older I get the more I appreciate one of the few consistencies in life...change.  The cycles of winter to spring to summer to fall, each bearing their unique opportunities and experiences.  I invite and encourage you to find a spot in the park or even your back yard and immerse your senses into the miracles of change....the colors, the sounds, the aroma, the feeling of the earth under your feet...and just breathe.

From the Desk of Dennis Gibbons, LMT

"I work out on a regular basis, I do my aerobics and watch my diet, why do I constantly hurt and feel uncomfortable?"

"Why do I re-injure myself when performing activities I have done for my whole life, this never happened to me before!"

"Since I have been working out, I am experiencing joint tightness and discomfort, why?"

Over the last 22 years these are questions and statements that I have often heard. When I first began working in the profession of Massage Therapy I often treated the symptom that was presented. That is why two statements have stood out to me over the years, and that is how Muscle Release Therapy, MRTh® was developed. The first of the two statements was given to me by Dr. Tom Maday, D.C. a chiropractor in Tucson, AZ and also who I consider my mentor, "where it is, it ain't!" What he meant was often times where the individual is experiencing the discomfort is not what is at the root of the problem. The second statement was from Rudolph Nureyev when I posed the question to him, "What makes you a different dancer that people would come from all over the world to watch you dance?" His response, "I have learned to dance to the energy of the audience, not only to the music and choreography."

"Motion Sickness Relief with Ginger" By Ashleigh Pennington

Each summer, my family and I go to amusement parks spending the day riding, flipping, turning & twisting. A few years ago I noticed my tolerance for the rides had significantly dropped. I hated feeling nauseous and having a headache, but I wanted to enjoy all the park had to offer.

So, before this year's trip, I searched for ways to prevent this sickly feeling. I came across Ginger as being a natural "stomach-settler." I bought the Ginger Essential Oil here at CVWC, put 2 drops in my water the morning of our trip and I had absolutely no symptoms of nausea!

If you ever suffer from motion sickness or nausea, please try Ginger Essential Oil. It helped me so much! The drops can be placed on the stomach or the temples for relief. I also hear it is beneficial for those who suffer from morningsickness and vertigo.

"Take what you have and create what you want."
by Sean Lyons

I heard the phrase, “take what you have and create what you want,” about 10 years ago and it has stayed with me.  Upon joining the CVWC family I realized, that's what we do here....we take people as they are, with what they have and help them create what they want!  Whether it's managing or alleviating pain or developing more efficient movement patterns or enhancing their daily performance or "just" helping them feel good, we help people maximize what is already inside them.

We do not employ magic potions or technological advancements to achieve results.  In the therapy rooms, we use Muscle Release Therapy, MRTh® which, very basically, is a personalized postural balancing that is based on each individual's specific needs and circumstances.  MRTh® does not put anything into your body, it merely returns your soft tissue to its natural, neutral position...facilitating your healing from within.

In our Pilates studio we provide people an opportunity to strengthen from within.  Our unique brand of Pilates is called Functional Movement with Pilates Machines  While similar to other Pilates studios  with efforts to develop core strength,  we take Pilates to the next level and beyond by personalizing every session or class to the specific needs and goals of each student.  All movements are taught to be executed in a slow, controlled manner, thereby instilling efficient movement patterns, balance and flexibility.

Our services encourage an increased mind-body connection, enhanced daily performance and an improved sense of well being.  The results vary, yet the unified goal is to help people purposely enjoy life more fully with grace, ability and gratitude.

All of this is accomplished by taking what you have and creating what you want.
