Path to Wellness
February 2010
Dear Friend,
How have you been treating yourself during these early weeks of 2010? February is a good time to take some attention off of you and bestow some affection and attention on the one you love the most.
In recent years, it seems that Valentine's Day has gone the way of "hallmark holidays," with retailers scrambling to guilt us into spending a lot of money to reflect our love. Try this: Google search - valentines day gift ideas. You will find nearly 7.5 million entries! Thoughtful gifts are a great idea, yet most barely scratch the surface of this day's opportunity; the chance to make the one you love feel loved. You know them best-what would make them smile? What would make them feel appreciated?
This installment of Path to Wellnessincludes articles from Marge Gibbons, Dennis Gibbons and Tanya Mucci; a delicious V-Day Recipe; February's Special; and information on Pilates Certification.

My First Massage From Someone Not Named Dennis
by Marge Gibbons
Shame on me!!! On January 26, 2010 I received my first relaxation massage from our Licensed Massage Therapist, Patrick Carroll!
I have been told by our clients that Patrick has a magical, therapeutic, and relaxing touch all wrapped up in one! Yes, Patrick has all those attributes, and he's a kind, gentle and caring Therapist!
Dennis has been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 1987, so of course, I have always received therapy and a relaxation massage from him. I decided I needed and wanted a relaxation massage by a therapist other than Dennis; I have been hearing so many wonderful comments about Patrick, so why not! I am so glad I took the first step to explore massage out of my "cocoon".

The Process of Muscle Release Therapy, MRTh® & Fundamental Movement Pilates(sm)
From the Desk of Dennis Gibbons, LMT

Dennis Gibbons, LMT
If you or someone you know has ever suffered from acute or chronic pain the ultimate goal is not just make the pain go away, rather KEEP the pain away. The two modalities employed at CVWC were created, and are continually evolving procedures that rectify many long term issues the human body possesses that create both chronic and acute pain. As you will learn, the natural progression of these processes leads the individual from the therapy room to the Pilates studio. Understanding why they are considered processes is very important to... {click here to continue Dennis's article}
A Life of Movement
by Tanya Mucci, LMT

Tanya Mucci, LMT
Strength, flexibility, body awareness, and muscle memory has been a huge portion of the majority of my life. Aside from being a Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Pilates instructor, I am a dance instructor and choreographer. I have been involved in ballet, modern, and jazz professionally for 16 years. I am happy to say (but it hurts a little) I started my dance training 28 years ago. Let's be real, I'm not going to be a dancer for the rest of my life, although it will always be a part of my life. Movement is an addiction for me. I love the challenge with every class, performance, and creation. This is why I chose Pilates to be a part of my life years ago. First, it extended my career as a dancer and has now become part of my career. This wasn't just a job choice but a necessity to build my career around body health and physicality. {click here to continue Tanya's article}

Fundamental Movement Pilates(sm) Certification
This certification will empower each student with the knowledge and experience to ehance life. Sounds like a bold statement, and it is. Nevertheless, it's true. Imagine knowing how to efficiently maximize your movements at home, at work, at the gym, on the court, course and even in your garden. How many times have you "tweeked" a muscle while performing routine activities? How would you like to minimize those times? How would you like to know how to obtain the best results from your efforts? What are you waiting for? RSVP Now! Classes begin Saturday, February 13, 2010.
Fundamental Movement Pilates(sm) is a conceptual format of the work created by Joseph Pilates. He did not mean for his work to be an exercise of aerobic activity, but one of controlled and patterned movement. The format that he developed was to help individuals change and re-create a systematic pattern of movement which permitted the individual to move in a pain-free environment.
The student will learn the mechanical aspects of the human anatomy and how the body re-learns to move in a comfortable paradigm. This class will give the student the ability to see and correct many of the flaws that develop due to compensation from previous injuries. It is this compensation which inhibits individuals as they age. Students will receive instruction on how to strengthen the necessary mechanical structures which encourage pain-free movement.
Following the class room hours, the apprentice will complete 30 hours of observation followed by 30 hours of assisting in the CVWC studio. It is during the observation and assisting period that the information obtained in the classroom will start to take pure form.
Upon completion of the required hours and payment, the individual will receive a certificate of completion from Dennis Gibbons LMT, Developer of Fundamental Movement Pilates(sm).
