December 2009 Path to Wellness

Path to Wellness
December 2009

Dear Friend,

Once again the holiday season has arrived!  Finding balance between the stress and joy of the holidays can be difficult to maintain.  Sometimes balance can be acquired by directing movement where it's needed most.  Join us in directing movement, in the form of assistance, towards the Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland.  Let's help each other find balance.

This edition of "Path to Wellness" includes the announcement of CVWC's food drive for the Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland, article from Dennis Gibbons LMT, information about Facial Rejuvenation, and a delicious recipe for Hot Spiced Cider.

*Don't forget to schedule your 60 minute Signature Relaxation Massage this month! Only $50 through Dec. 31, 2009!!

People Helping People

As you read this there are some people worried about being able to afford gifts for the holidays, while others are worried about affording food....tonight.  That's right, there are people in our communities that can't afford food!  I don't know about you, but after reading some of these stories I feel inspired to help.

So, from December 1st - December 22nd Chagrin Valley Wellness Center will be accepting food and monetary donations for the Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland.  All donations will be accepted at 3690 Orange Place, Suite 175 in Beachwood during our normal business hours.

The Hunger Network Nutrition Education Committee has created this list to serve as a guide for what food to collect so that we can continue to provide the best, most nutritious foods to children and families throughout Cuyahoga County:

Fruits: fruit juice, canned fruit

Vegetables: canned corn, greens and other vegetables, canned soup

Meats, Nuts & Beans: tuna, Spam, corned beef, canned ham, peanut butter, beef stew, canned hash, chili, dry beans (pinto, black etc.), pork & beans

This holiday season let's help each other!

F.R.A. - Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture

What is FRA?

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is a painless non-surgical method of reducing the signs of the aging process. Sometimes it can be referred to as an acupuncture facelift, but it is more than a cosmetic procedure. It is a rejuvenation and revitalization process designed to help the whole body look and feel younger. FRA works by treating the whole body and addressing the underlying causes of aging and disease.  FRA is suitible for those with deep wrinkles, fine lines, bags under the eyes, double chin, large pores, and dry skin or acne.  While not a replacement for surgery, FRA is an excellent alternative with far less cost, trauma, and pain.  The effects of FRA can last for years with regularly scheduled maintenance treatments and adherence to the FRA program.

What is the course of treatment?

Generally, it consists of 10-12 treatments. The effects become most noticeable and lasting on or about the seventh session. Each person responds differently, depending on his or her condition and lifestyle prior to treatment. Following the initial course of treatment, maintenance sessions can prolong the results for five to ten years.

Who would benefit from FRA?

Anyone concerned with looking and feeling young and slowing down the aging process. The decision to begin treatment may be professionally or personally inspired or a combination of both. Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is suitable for those with deep wrinkles, fine lines, bags under the eyes, sagging, puffiness, drooping eyelids, double chin, large pores, dry skin or acne. Different methods are emphasized and specific points stimulated according to how an individual is aging. A person with excess puffiness, for example, would require a different treatment than someone with dry skin. The whole person is treated and evaluated on the body-mind continuum--the foundation of Holistic Medicine.

Marge and I wish everyone a Happy Holiday season and may 2010 bring everyone all of their wishes and dreams. Although this past year has been a different one with many changes, we feel blessed with all of the good that has happened in our life. We will be celebrating Christmas with our children and grandchildren who are all healthy and thankfully, gainfully employed. May this season bring you much love and peace, and please let us remember the true reason for the season. That is for all Christians the remembrance of the birth of Jesus Christ, Merry Christmas.

Over the past few months I have talked about the theory and practice of Muscle Release Therapy, MRTh® and Fundamental Movement Pilates(sm). How the thought process needed to be simple and how it tied into my own personal experiences. This month we will be discussing the... {click here to continue article}

Grab your mugs and dive into this hot drink! Clean your coffee maker according to the manufacturer's instructions before using for coffee again."  by :Sara
